Strawboy Drummers

Drawing from the ancient Irish tradition of Straw Boys, Wren Boys and Mummers. These masked drummers work best as a surprise. 

The Straw Boys traditionally were made up of people who weren’t invited to the wedding, old enemies and the like. They dressed in crazy clothes and had straw headdresses to conceal their identity. They could not be refused entry and would play music, dance and generally fool around providing great entertainment for all the guests. By the end of the night, old scores are settled and the happy couple starts off their life together with a clean slate. 

The Straw Boys also play traditional Irish Music, and can play before or after the drumming performance in or out of costume! They can create a real Irish session by playing lively "Jigs and Reels" on a beautiful collection of instruments such as; Flute, Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar and Bodhrán.
